Album purchase

How far in advance should I purchase my album?
You can buy your album at any point before your wedding day. If you want to include the personalised cards when you send out your wedding invitations we would recommend that you buy your album approximately one month before you are planning to send your invitations. This will allow enough time to receive your personalised cards.

Don't worry if you have already sent your wedding invitations, you can use your personalised cards on your wedding day and also send them with your thank you letters after your wedding to remind your guests. In this instance we recommend that you buy your album as soon as possible before you wedding.

What are personalised cards?
Personalised cards are white business-sized cards that contain your unique guest username and password. They also come printed with instructions for your guests so they can easily upload their photos to your album. They also use the same login details to view your album when you have published it.

I don't live in the UK, can I buy an album?
If you live outside the UK you will still be charged in pounds sterling and you will be subject to the prevailing exchange rate at point of purchase. You may incur additional charges via your card issuer.

You will still need to read and agree to the standard terms and conditions regardless of where you live. Postage and packaging will be charged depending on your order and where the item(s) are to be delivered.

Please choose your country from the drop down list during the purchase process, this will determine the postage costs for the destination. If your country does not appear in the list, please contact us via the 'Contact Us' page to find out if we can send items to you.

Information for guests

How will my wedding guests know we have an album?
Your welcome pack will include 50 personalised cards to give out to your friends and family. These cards contain your unique guest username and password that you choose during registration. If you need additional cards, these can be purchased in packs of 50.

You can give the cards out at your wedding and send them with your invitations and thank you cards.

When will my personalised cards arrive?
We will process your cards as soon as your order is confirmed. We will dispatch your cards within 14 working days. If you need them sooner, please contact us and we will endeavour to despatch your cards sooner.

It is important that you keep your postal address and wedding date information up to date in your 'Manage Account' section to ensure we send your cards to the right address and avoid any delays.

There may be a delay if you pay by Paypal eCheque as the transaction will be held as pending for seven to nine working days, until the electronic funds transfer clears your bank. If this is the case, we will contact you to let you know of the delay. This is out of our control and we will process your order as soon as we can. We will only send out your cards once the payment has cleared.

Uploading photos

How many photos can my guests upload?
Your guests should be able to upload all the photos they want to. We constantly monitor the optimum size of album to ensure that your guests can upload their photos

How long after our wedding can guests upload photos for?
Your guests must upload their photos within 8 weeks of your wedding date, which is advised on the personalised cards.

This time limit exists to encourage your guests to upload their photos as soon as possible after your wedding to avoid delaying you in editing and publishing your album.

Can my guests upload videos to my album?
No, only photographs can be uploaded in .jpg, .bmp and .gif file formats.

What quality will the uploaded photos be?
We will save three versions of each photo so they can be displayed as thumbnails and a suitable onscreen size. The third size is for any photos that you or your guests download - this size will be suitable for printing at a 7"x5" photo size providing the original uploaded image was of sufficient quality. We also include this larger size on the DVDs.

What if someone uploads an unsuitable photo?
You will be able to delete any photos that your guests upload that you don't want to keep. Wedding of the Year also reserves the right to monitor all photos being uploaded and delete any inappropriate images.

Please review the terms and conditions for what Wedding of the Year consider to be inappropriate images. If the administrator deletes any photos, you will be sent an email and the prohibited content will be moved to your discarded photos section. You can contact us if you would like the photo to be reinstated to your album and we will reassess the photo against our prohibited content criteria. We have this policy for everyone's enjoyment.

What will my photos be used for if I upload them?
By uploading your photos you are agreeing that they can be displayed via www.weddingoftheyear.com and that anyone with the guest login details of the album you contribute to can download a copy and order prints and photo products (including our DVD service) of your image(s) if they wish. If you do not want your photos to be used in this way, please do not upload your photos. Further information can be found in the terms and conditions that need to be read and agreed to before uploading your photos.

Why can't I see the photos that I have uploaded in the album straightaway?
Photos that have been uploaded by guests are only shown in the online wedding album once the wedding couple have seen them, chosen them and republished their album to reflect any changes. If you can't see your photos it may be that the wedding couple haven't seen your photos yet and haven't had a chance to republish their album. You will not see your photos immediately after uploading them even if the album is available to view as a guest.

Album features

Can we print any of the photos uploaded to our album?
We have teamed up with Photobox so you can order photos prints and products and Bob Books so you can order Photobooks. You and your guests will be able to download the photos from your online album and then upload your favourites to Photobox or Bob Books to place your order. The quality of these downloaded images will be suitable for printing at 7"x5" providing the original uploaded image was of sufficient quality.

We offer a DVD service whereby you can purchase your photos on DVD for viewing on your PC. All the photo jpeg files are also included on the DVD so you have a copy of all your photos.

What if I want to keep the photos forever?
We offer a DVD service where we can transfer your album on DVD for viewing on your PC. The DVD also includes all the photo jpeg files so you will also have a copy of each photo that was in your online wedding album.

You can also download photos from your online wedding album and save or print them. In addition, you can continue to extend the time your album is available online.

Can I extend the time my album is published online for?
Yes, your album will be available online for six months from your wedding date and we will contact you before it expires to see if you wish to extend your album for an additional six months.

If you purchased you album before 31st December 2008, your album will be available online for the full 12 months as was purchased.

I have received a gift voucher, how do I use it?
Please contact us via the 'Contact Us' page quoting your unique gift voucher number. We will then be in touch about what we can offer you as a gift voucher holder. All gift vouchers will expire on the date printed on the gift voucher or 31st December 2009, whichever is the earliest. Please ensure you contact us before this date to redeem your voucher. Your wedding can be at a later date than this but the voucher must have been redeemed before this date to be valid.

Album security

Is my album secure?
Only you have access to the whole of your album using your master username and password. If you think your security has been compromised, please visit 'Manage Album' and click on forgot username and password link to reset your password.

What if I have forgotten my master username or master password?
If you have forgotten your log in details, click on 'forgot username or password' on the manage album login form and follow the instructions to request your master username or reset your master password

What if my guests forget their username or password?
In order to control the people uploading photos to your album or viewing your album we will not disclose your guest username or guest password to anyone. This is because we do not know who your guests are and whether the person attempting to access your album is known to you. Your guest will either need to contact you directly or ask another guest for your login details.
